Summer 2022 Season: May 9th – Junior Olympics!

Welcome to SJA’s Summer 2022 Season!  The summer season is all about continuing to build on the skills and experience we have gained all year while also competing to do our best at Junior Olympics at the end of the summer! We will start our Summer season for all age groups Monday, May 9th, and conclude at the end of Junior Olympics. For boys Junior Olympics will be July 16th-19th, girls and all 10u Junior Olympics will be July 21st-24th.

For our newer families that have not participated in Junior Olympics before, JO’s is a National tournament with teams from all over the nation coming to compete in one big tournament at the end of the summer. This is what we work for all year around. Junior Olympics is always an extremely fun and competitive tournament for all of our teams. This year, Junior Olympics will be held in the San Jose area, so it will be local for us. There will be a qualifying tournament for Junior Olympics in June. This is just as important as Junior Olympics, as we will need to qualify in order to go to JO’s at the end of the Summer. Junior Olympics is a National level tournament, which means that all athletes who wish to participate in Junior Olympics will need a Gold-level USA Water Polo membership. If you want to go to JO’s you will need to make sure you have a Gold Membership via USA Water Polo by the start of our summer season.

We will also be looking to do a few local and travel tournaments for all of our age groups during the summer

 We will be continuing our Fundamentals class for those brand new to water polo (5 years old +) that would like to learn basic swimming and egg beater skills. Our coaches are excited to see the kids, and welcome new members!

Lastly, I would like to Introduce Mason Smith, Hamish Bonnar, and Alyssa Ross!

Mason and Hamish will both be working with our High School Boys and Alyssa will be coaching our 10u’s. All three of these coaches bring many years of club and college playing experience. We are very excited to be adding these coaches to our team and looking forward to a great summer!
